Dolphins fall in tightly contested match-up with Christchurch

The Dolphins traveled to Richmond on Tuesday night for a matchup with Christchurch and returned with a loss after four tightly contested sets. Despite the travel distance, the girls entered the first set relatively fresh. As the first set progressed, the Dolphins fell behind as the set ended 15 -25 in favor of Christchurch. Trailing 1-0, the Dolphins bounced back to defeat Christchurch by a narrow margin, 25-23. With the night tied 1-1, Christchurch dominated the third set with a 12-25 win over the Dolphins. Facing an early exit to the night, Cape Henry battled down to the wire in the fourth set but fell short in the closing plays, falling 22-25. Despite the loss, exceptional play was found at each turn for the Dolphins. Kyndl Couch dished out 17 assists and contributed a team-high nine aces. Emma Krooner and Jordan Banister teamed up defensively to account for 21 digs, with Banister also adding three kills. Brynn Earl and Paris Beale highlighted the Dolphin attack, as each picked up four kills with Earl also contributing seven digs. The Dolphins (1-2) will travel to St. Catherine’s on Friday, September 6 for a 5:45 pm start.
