Baseball- CHC 8, Steward School 4

In the second of two games on Saturday afternoon, the Dolphins battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the first inning to win, 8-4. Alex Gianascoli earned the win on the mound Saturday afternoon, throwing five innings while giving up two runs, two hits, striking out four, and only walking two batters. The Spartans took the early 2-0 lead, as the Dolphins needed three innings to find the first run of the game. In the top of the third inning, Cape Henry pushed two runs across as Rush Friedberg scored on a wild pitch just before Kyle Edwards scored Bryce Jones on an RBI single to center. In the ensuing inning, the Dolphins connected for three runs as Trent Jones, Kenny Schaedel, and Kyle Edwards each collected hits. Cape Henry added two more in the top of the fourth and the final run in the top of sixth to take an 8-2 lead heading into the last inning of the night. Steward squeezed two runs across the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning but it was not enough to overcome Cape henry’s lead, and the Dolphins held on to advance to 5-1 on the season. Cape Henry will host Norfolk Collegiate on Tuesday to kick off conference play beginning at 4:30 pm.
