VISAA State Swimming Tournament

The Dolphins traveled to Stafford, Virginia for the VISAA State Swimming Tournament and after two days of swimming, the Dolphins earned six top-25 finishes and brought home a new school record. Leading the charge was Kim Schooneman who broke Cape Henry Collegiate’s 50-yard Freestyle record in the prelims with a time of 25.18 before breaking the record once again in the finals with a time of 25.07, earning the highest overall finish for CHC with 13th place. She continued her impressive weekend with a 19th place finish in the 100-yard Backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:02.48. The 4×50 Relay team of Gavin Cake, Robert Campbell, Zach Frey, and Sam Stanton earned a 19th place finish out of more than 30 teams with a time of 1:36.17. The same group also swam the 4×100 Freestyle Relay and replicated their finish with a second 19th place finish. The girls’ 4×100 Freestyle relay team of Shannon Tadder, Carlie Meyerholz, Anna Buba, and Kate Vittone completed the event in 28th place with a time of 4:12.53. Robert Campbell (24.63) and Zack Frey (24.79) also cracked the top-25 individually, placing 16th and 23rd in the 50-yard Freestyle, respectively.
