Boys Cross Country Places 6th in State Tournament Final

Boys Cross Country– 6th

On a muddy, wet, and cold course, the Dolphin Boys Cross Country program produced the highest finish in the history of the program on Friday night. Traveling to Fork Union Military Academy, the boys were stacked up against a field of 19 teams and just shy of 200 runners. Outstandingly, Owen Richards battled back-and-forth, overtaking the lead runner several times throughout the race, but crossed the finish line eight seconds shy of first place with a time of 16:54. Owen’s 2nd place finish is the highest state finish for the Dolphins Cross Country program. The All-Conference trio of Nick Damuth (18:40), Berk Alptekin (18:42), and Zach Earl (18:44) continued to stick to the Pac-man philosophy, crossing the line in 41st, 43rd, and 45th place all separated by no more than two seconds. Rounding out the scoring five, Briggs Standing crossed the finish line in 19:24 and finished in 70thplace. Amazingly, the Dolphins produced six runners in the top-100 en route to 6th place finish for Cape Henry. The State race marked the conclusion of the historic Cross Country season for the Dolphins.
