Boys Volleyball – A Brand New Identity

Searching for a Winning Recipe

The Dolphin Varsity Boys Volleyball team entered the 2018-2019 season with a brand new identity after six valuable seniors moved on from the Dolphin ranks. After searching for the winning recipe in a loss against Tallwood High School, the Dolphins showed promise in a 3-1 win over Bayside High School on Thursday night. Cape Henry dominated the first two sets of the night, winning 25-17 and 25-15. Accurate passing from the Dolphin defense and tremendous effort on the part of setter Thomas Couch, the Dolphins were firing on all cylinders. In the third set, the youth and inexperience began to show. With several brand new volleyball players, Cape Henry struggled to rebound from the mistakes and eventually dropped the third set 23-25. Regrouping and moving on from the mistakes, Cape Henry earned the 25-22 victory in the fourth set of the night to win the match. Thomas Couch led the way with a 25 assist and two kill performance. Marshall Joyce contributed six kills, with Brady Old and Robert Campbell each picking up five kills. The Dolphins (1-1) look ahead to the next matchup where they will host Salem High School on Wednesday, September 5.
