The Dolphins hosted the Seahorses from Christchurch School on Thursday night, carrying a three-point lead into the half before ultimately falling to Christchurch in the final minutes of the contest. The Dolphins relied heavily on the post play of Paris Beale on Thursday night as Cape Henry finished the first eight minutes with a two-point lead over the Seahorses. The Dolphins slightly increased the lead at the half, with Cape Henry leading 18-15 after the first 16 minutes concluded. Returning to the floor for the second half, the Seahorses used their size to limit the Dolphins’ points in the paint. With the second-half game plan in place, Christchurch erased the Dolphin lead and carried a 24-23 lead into the final quarter of the night. As time ticked away, the Dolphins could not find the game-tying bucket to send the night into overtime. With the final Cape Henry shot caroming off the rim, the Dolphins sent the Seahorses to the line for the final points of the night as Christchurch finished with a 33-38 win over the Dolphins. Paris Beale scored a game-high 17 points, netting nine of the seventeen from the charity stripe. Jillian Somers added five points for the Dolphins, with Izzy Schleifer and Aleezah Adams each scoring four. Gabby Clark rounded out the Dolphin scoring with three points against Christchurch School. Despite four losses to start the season, the Dolphins’ Varsity Girls’ Basketball program is playing a captivating brand of basketball and steadily improving with each minute played as Cape Henry prepares for conference play after the Winter Break. The Dolphins (0-4) are back in action Friday, December 20, taking on Fairfax Home School at Trinity Christian School, beginning at 4:30 pm.
