The Dolphins traveled to Leesburg, Virginia on Saturday night after completing a semifinal win over Steward School where Mackenzie White (2), Ali Gordon, Olivia Zettervall, and Cassie Thompson each found the back of the cage. In Saturday’s Division II Championships, the Dolphins met the Eagles from Fredericksburg Academy, a matchup between the two programs with the most Division II Championships. A back-and-forth first half resulted in a low-scoring affair for both sides, with nearly 25 minutes passing before the first score of the night was on the board. It was the Dolphins striking first in Saturday’s Finals, with Cameron Dodzik finding the back of the cage to put the Dolphins ahead 1-0 heading into halftime. The Dolphins controlled possession throughout the second half, pinning the Eagles in their defensive half for the majority of the final 30 minutes. Midway through the second half, it was Cameron Dodzik finding the back of the cage once again to extend the Dolphin lead to 2-0. The defense of Chloe Mugler, Sam Maiden, and Olivia Zettervall consistently thwarted the Eagle attacks, helping Aleezah Adams, who recorded five saves on Saturday night, complete her 14th shutout of the season. As the final whistle sounded, the Dolphins completed the third-straight Division II State Championship and sixth overall for the program. The Dolphins now stand atop the Division II record books, tying Fredericksburg Academy for the most Division II titles with the sixth State Championship victory.
