Varsity Cross Country – Boys finish 5th in TCIS Tournament Meet

The Dolphins traveled to Bells Mill Park on Thursday afternoon for the Halloween edition of the TCIS Cross Country Finals, with the boys capturing fifth place behind Zach Earl’s top-20 finish. The Dolphins were caught off guard by the sudden 80-degree weather last night, resulting in a difficult race for Cape Henry Collegiate. Despite maintaining a consistent pace throughout the season, the Dolphins were unable to produce any new PRs on Thursday afternoon. However, leading the charge, Zach Earl completed the TCIS Finals Meet with a time of 18:36 en route to a 16th place overall finish. Berk Alptekin and Nick Damuth each finish within the top-30 runners, racing against a field of over 90 individual competitors. Connor Amet and Mitchell Cuthriell rounded out the top-five racers for the Dolphins and aided the Cape Henry’s ascent to 5th place in the TCIS.

On the girls’ side, the Dolphins battled illness and were able to produce only four runners on Thursday afternoon. Carlie Meyerholz captained the charge en route to an All-TCIS finish, crossing the finish line in 12th place with a time of 22:49. Julia Gnasso, Cat Lestyan, and Sadie Jolly each performed admirably on Thursday night and rounded out the Dolphins’ lineup in the TCIS Finals. With only four competitors for the Dolphins, Cape Henry Collegiate was unable to place in the Finals. The Dolphins will regroup, heal up, and prepare for the State Tournament meet on November 7 at Pole Green in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
