Varsity Field Hockey – Dolphins advance to TCIS Finals with win over Crusaders

The Dolphins hosted the semifinal matchup of the TCIS Tournament on Tuesday night, defeating the Crusaders in an overtime thriller as Ali Gordon had a hand in all three Dolphin scores. The Dolphins pounded the Crusader frame throughout the night, tallying over 25 shots on cage and 18 corners in Tuesday’s contest. The Dolphins struck first against the Crusaders, racing out to a 1-0 lead as Ali Gordon scored in the fourth minute of the night. The Crusaders answered to tie the night, 1-1, at the 15-minute mark of the first half. Both sides remained scoreless for the remainder of the first half. The next goal came with seven minutes remaining in play as Ali Gordon scored her second unassisted goal of the night to give CHC a 2-1 lead. With 13 seconds remaining, the Crusaders forced overtime with the equalizer late in the contest. However, the Dolphins would need only three minutes of the overtime period as Livy Wallace finished the TCIS semifinal victory with Ali Gordon assisting Wallace’s score. The Dolphins (13-4-1) advanced to the TCIS finals on Friday night to take on the Bulldogs from Norfolk Academy, beginning at 3:00 pm at the Sportsplex.
