Varsity Soccer – Dolphins fall to Norfolk Academy on the road

The Dolphins traveled to conference rival, Norfolk Academy, on Tuesday night for a TCIS matchup with the Bulldogs as the Dolphins came up just short in the closing minutes. The Dolphins controlled the possession throughout the first half as the Bulldogs committed to packing in on the defensive end. With the Dolphins unable to break the numbers on the Bulldog backline combined with the long ball from the Norfolk Academy defenders, both sides broke for the half with the score tied, 0-0. Returning to the pitch for the second half, Norfolk Academy found the back of the net on a free kick to take the first lead of the night. With ten minutes ticking away, the Bulldogs extended the lead to two with the final Bulldog goal of the night. As the Bulldogs continued to pack in on the defensive end to stymie the potent Dolphin offense, Trevor Kidd broke through on the right-wing and drew a foul in the box. As a result, Kidd buried the PK  to close the gap. As time ticked away, the Dolphins were unable to find the elusive second goal, falling 2-1 on the night. The Dolphins (13-2) are back in action on Thursday night for the Dolphins’ senior day against Hampton Roads Academy, beginning at 4:30 pm.
