Dolphins fall in highly competitive matchup

The Dolphins traveled to Greenbrier Christian Academy on Thursday night for a TCIS contest against the Gators and returned with a 1-3 loss despite three tightly contested sets. The first set of the night came down to the wire as the Dolphins made a late push but ultimately dropped the opening set 21-25. Cape Henry traded points with the Gators throughout the second set until the Gators pulled away in the final points to give Cape Henry a 19-25 second set loss. The Dolphins would rebound in the third set, taking the Gatorsinto extra points with a 27-25 victory in the third set. With the overall score in favor of GCA, 2-1, the Dolphins would need a fourth set win to keep the night alive. Greenbrier Christian pulled away in the final set of the night and gave Cape Henry a 13-25 loss to finish the night. Kyndl Couch led the Dolphin offense with 19 assists while adding three kills and two aces. Brynn Earl contributed a team-high ten digs while pitching in for five kills and four aces. Anna Buba earned nine digs with five kills and two aces to her name on Thursday night. Jordan Banister and Paris Beale each picked up six kills, with Banister and Beale combining for 13 digs. The Dolphins (3-8) will travel to Nansemond Suffolk on Thursday, October 10, for a TCIS contest beginning at 6:30 pm.
