Dolphins win in come-from-behind thriller

WOW! The Dolphins welcomed the Braves from Indian River High School to the gym on Thursday night, giving all in attendance an incredible come-from-behind victory as the Dolphins’ backs were against the wall. The Dolphins quickly fell behind in the first set of the night but battled back late in the set. Unfortunately, the Braves held on to take the opening frame 25-17. The second set produced much of the same as the Dolphins struggled to find any momentum on the attack, falling 15-25. Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Dolphins completely swung the momentum in Cape Henry’s favor. The Dolphins found the winning ways in the third set, taking the frame 25-22. The Dolphins evened the overall tally with another exciting fourth set win, 25-19. Now tied 2-2 and the deciding set underway, the Dolphins and Braves traded blows throughout the final set. The Dolphins faced the seventh loss of the season as the girls trailed with just one point remaining in the night. The Dolphins survived the Braves’ attack and, again, pulled ahead late in the set to win 18-16 on the night. Leading the way for Cape Henry, Kyndl Couch dished out a season-high 27 assists and added eight digs and five aces. Brynn Earl pitched in for eight kills, five aces, and nine digs, as well as, providing valuable leadership throughout the night. Anna Buba added seven kills, five aces, and nine digs, while Jordan banister, Paris Beale, and Caroline Berman each finished the night with five kills apiece. The Dolphins (3-6) will travel to Steward School on Tuesday, October 1 for a TCIS contest.
