Dolphins pull ahead in final set on Thursday night

The Dolphins gave Volleyball fans a treat on Thursday night, taking the Navigators down to the wire in a 3-2 nail-bitter. The Dolphins were off to a hot start, racing out to an eight-point lead in the first set before holding on to take the opening frame 25-17. The Navigators flipped the script in the second set, handing the Dolphins a loss, 17-25. With the night tied 1-1, the third set would set the tone for the remainder of the contest. The Dolphins and Navigators traded blows throughout the contest until the Dolphins pulled ahead late in the set to earn the 25-23 win. The Dolphins now faced the chance to end the night in the fourth set but fell behind late to fall 21-25. In the fifth and final set of the night, the Dolphins brought it all together and finished the night with a 15-11 win. Anna Buba led the Dolphins on Thursday night, picking up seven kills, 14 digs, and three aces. Jordan Banister displayed her versatility throughout the night, earning five kills, two aces, five digs, and one block. Brynn Earl held the Dolphins afloat defensively, racking up 17 digs to go along with five kills. Caroline Berman controlled the middle, contributing six kills and three blocks, while Leah Bohannon and Kyndl Couch each impressed with 28 digs and 22 assists, respectively. The Dolphins (2-5) will travel to Bethel Baptist Church to take on Beach on Tuesday, September 24, beginning at 7:00 pm.
