Dolphins fall in an exciting five set contest

The Dolphins hosted the Patriots from Portsmouth Christian on Monday night, filling the gym with a back-and-forth, exciting night of Volleyball. Despite the loss on Monday night, the Dolphins continue to show vast improvement and are poised to make a run at any moment. The Dolphins took the lead as the first set came to an end, defeating the Patriots 25-20. The Patriots opened the second set in the lead, racing out to an eight-point advantage. Cape Henry battled back to tie the score at 24-24 before briefly taking the lead, 25-24. However, the Patriots pulled ahead at the end of the set, 25-27. With the overall tally even at 1-1, the Dolphins once again battled their way to a win. Winning the third set 25-20, the Dolphins would need one more win to take the night. The Patriots regained the momentum in the fourth set and eventually defeated the Dolphins in the final two sets of the night to earn the team victory. While the Dolphins fell 2-3 on the night, several Dolphins highlighted the exciting matchup on Monday night. Leading the way, Jordan Banister picked up nine kills, 12 digs, and contributed two blocks on the night. Anna Buba earned eight kills and ten digs, while Caroline Berman and Paris Beale each added six kills and two blocks. Brynn Earl pitched in defensively with nine digs, with Kyndl Couch rounding out the highlights with 22 assists. The Dolphins (1-4) will travel to Catholic High School tonight for a conference matchup with the Crusaders beginning at 5:15 pm.
