Dolphins earn Friday night win over Atlantic Shores

Cape Henry Collegiate hosted the Seahawks from Atlantic Shores Christian School on Friday afternoon and earned a 9-0 win against the out of conference opponent. The Dolphins swept doubles play after earning two 8-0 victories. Rachel Moore and Halle Speight paired up to secure the first on the number one court, with Caroline Dixon and Parker Matacunas earning the second on the number three court. Stephanie Strickland and Anna Kutelia rounded out doubles play with an 8-3 win on the number two court. The girls carried the momentum into singles play, completing six of six wins. Anna Kutelia, Makenna DeTorres, and Halle Speight each won 6-0, 6-0 on the number two, four, and six courts, respectively, to extend the lead to 6-0 and clinch the overall team win. Stephanie Strickland on the number three court, and Mary Turner Shipp on the number five court completed 6-1, 6-0 wins, while Rachel Moore rounded out singles play with a 6-3, 7-5 victory. The Dolphins (4-2) will host Catholic High School on Tuesday, September 17, beginning at 4:00 pm.
