Dolphins fall to Ambassadors on the road

The Dolphins traveled to ODU on Tuesday night for a conference matchup with the Ambassadors from Norfolk Christian and returned with a loss to bring the Dolphins’ overall record to .500. The Dolphins kicked off doubles play with three losses despite a close match on courts two, with Anna Kutelia and Mary Turner Shipp taking their Ambassador opponents to a 4-8 result. Singles play resulted in much of the same, with the Dolphin falling in four of six matches on Tuesday night. Highlighting the night, Anna Kutelia earned one of the Dolphin wins with a 6-2, 6-4 result on the number two court. Halle Speight picked up the final Dolphin win on the number six court, defeating her opponent in an extra set by a score of 1-6, 7-6, 1-0 (6). Mary Turner Shipp also turned in a stellar performance with two tightly contested games on the number five court, falling 6-3, 7-6 (5). The Dolphins (2-2) will travel back to ODU on Thursday, September 12 for a matchup with the Oaks from Norfolk Collegiate.
