The Dolphins traveled to Portsmouth for a conference contest with the Knights from Peninsula Catholic on Friday night. The Dolphins rebounded from a loss in the season-opener to capture the 9-0 win on Friday. Rachel Moore and Stephanie Strickland kicked started the run on Friday night, earning a commanding 8-4 win on the number one doubles court. Anna Kutelia and Halle Speight were called upon to compete on the number two doubles court and finished the game with an 8-0 win. In the final doubles contest of the afternoon, Mary Turner Shipp and Parker Matacunas gave the Dolphins a 3-0 lead after earning the 8-1 win on the number three doubles court to give the Dolphins a commanding lead with singles play set to begin. On the number one singles court, Rachel Moore put the Dolphins one step closer to sealing the victory on Friday with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Anna Kutelia and Makenna DeTorres, competing on the number two and number four courts respectively, each returned home with 6-1, 6-0 victories to seal the CHC victory over Peninsula Catholic. Stephanie Strickland, competing on the number three singles court, gave the Dolphins another win with a 6-0, 6-2 result on Friday night. Rounding out the Dolphin wins, Mary Turner Shipp and Halle Speight each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins on the number five and number six singles courts respectively. The Dolphins (1-1) are back in action Tuesday, September 3 for a home matchup with Nansemond Suffolk Academy beginning at 4:00 pm.
