8/29 Athletic Results – Cross Country – Boys 5th

The Dolphins traveled to Norfolk Academy on Thursday afternoon to kick off the 2019 season with a two-mile event. Both the Boys’ and Girls’ sides gave Dolphin fans much to look forward to throughout the 2019 season as the Boys completed the day with a 5th place overall finish. While the Girls’ side finished just outside of the top-10, two Dolphin athletes completed the two-mile course within the top-25.

Leading the way for the Cape Henry Collegiate girls, Avan Johnson finished the day with a 16th overall finish, completing the race in 13:44. Carlie Meyerholz also cracked the top-25, finishing in 25th place with a time of 14:10. Anabelle Denton and Cat Lestyan rounded out the Dolphin scoring on the girls’ side. On the Boys side, Berk Alptekin was relied upon to take the lead for the Dolphins, and he did not disappoint. Alptekin finished the night in 10th place—3rd amongst Independent School Competition—with a time of 10:55. Zach Earl and Nick Damuth each collected top-25 finishes, finishing in 11:11 and 11:30 respectively. The stellar finishing times propelled Earl to a 17th place finish, and Damuth to a 23rd place finish. Seniors Simon Altmeyer and Mitchell Cuthriell rounded out the Dolphin scoring with times of 12:28 and 12:34 respectively.

The Dolphins are back in action Thursday, September 5 for a home meet at Mount Trashmore beginning at 4:00 pm.
