Boys Volleyball- CHC 3, Beach 1

Rounding out the Athletic Contests for Cape Henry on Tuesday night, Varsity Boys Volleyball hosted the Beach Breakers for the Dolphins’ season-opener. Despite shaking off the nerves in the first set, the Dolphin commanded the 3-1 victory over the Breakers with strong, cohesive play. The Dolphins battled from behind in the first set with several unforced errors and communication woes, leading to a 23-25 loss in the first set. From here, the Dolphins’ athleticism took over. The Breakers continued to compete throughout the second set, battling Cape Henry down to the wire. However, the Dolphins came out on top with a 25-23 win in the second set. With the sides even 1-1, Cape Henry dominated the remainder of the night, earning 25-8 and 25-15 victories. First-year, Greg Melvin provided Dolphin fans excitement as he led the Dolphin attack with seven kills on the night. Aiden Winfield split time on the attack and as the setter, earning six kills on the night. Robert Campbell and Nick Hubbard also impressed on the attack, contributing five kills apiece. The Dolphins (1-0) are back in action Wednesday, September 4 for a conference matchup with Catholic High School.
