Girls Volleyball- CHC 1, Beach 3

The Dolphins hosted the Beach Breakers for the 2019 season-opener on Tuesday night and despite a strong showing, the Dolphins fell short in a 1-3 loss. The Dolphins needed a few sets to shake off the rust and the nerves from a long offseason. The Dolphins fell short in the first set, falling 16-25. Cape Henry took a step back in the second set, falling 12-25 before the play began to click for the girls. The Dolphins returned to the court for the third set, facing an early end to the night. Cape Henry rallied behind a strong performance from Kyndl Couch and Brynn Earl defensively. After a tie score at 15-15, the Dolphins swung the momentum in their direction and completed the 25-21 win over Beach. The fourth set came down to the wire, as Beach narrowed out the Dolphins in a 23-25 loss for CHC. Despite a 1-3 loss, the Dolphins displayed youthful talent across the board and gave Dolphin fans a great deal to look forward to in 2019. Leading the attack, Jordan Banister contributed five kills and six aces from the service line. Anna Buba and Caroline Berman each added four kills on the night, while Kyndl Couch dished out 19 assists and nine digs. Leading the charge defensively, Brynn Earl notched 13 digs and five aces. The Dolphins (0-1) are back in action Friday night, hosting Veritas Christian Academy beginning at 5:30 pm.
