The area’s fourth-ranked Dolphins hosted Ocean Lakes High School on Tuesday night for the season-opener for Cape Henry Collegiate, with the Dolphins moving to 1-0 on the season after regulation. The Dolphins’ attack continued to pressure Ocean Lakes’ backline throughout the first half of play but needed nearly 15 minutes to find the back of the cage. Leading to the first goal of the night- and the eventual game-winner- Sam Maiden found Olivia Zettervall who picked up the assist on Livy Wallace’s score to give CHC a 1-0 lead on the night. Four minutes later, Caroline Fluharty added an insurance goal as Livy Wallace and Olivia Zettervall each earned an assist on the goal. The Dolphins carried the 2-0 lead into the half and returned to the turf for the second half in full control of the contest. The Dolphin offense produced several chances on frame, but the final score of the night came with six minutes remaining in regulation. Accounting for the final goal of the night, Livy Wallace continued to dominate the stat book as she picked up the assist on Ali Gordon’s first goal of the season. In total, Livy Wallace, Caroline Fluharty, and Ali Gordon picked up one goal apiece in the season-opener. Olivia Zettervall and Livy Wallace contributed two assists each. Sam Maiden rounded out the assist column with one. In the cage, senior Aleezah Adams earned her first shutout of the season. The Dolphins (1-0) are back in action tonight as Cape Henry will host Princess Anne High School beginning at 4:30 pm.
