Varsity Boys Soccer- CHC 4, Currituck High School 0

Varsity Boys Soccer kicked off athletic competition on Tuesday night, taking on Currituck High School in the season-opener for Dolphin Athletics. Ten minutes into the first half, Gavin Dooren found the back of the net to put the Dolphins ahead 1-0. The Dolphins continued a brand of soccer Cape Henry has become known for in the soccer community, building the attack from the backline with thoughtful passes. The Dolphins and Knights battled in the midfield before Gavin Dooren found Carter Atherton trailing into the box. Atherton put the Dolphins on the board once again, finishing the second goal of the night to bring the tally to 2-0 heading into halftime. Returning to the pitch for the second half, Cape Henry was held scoreless for 32 minutes before Gavin Dooren scored his second goal of the night with eight minutes remaining in play. Leading 3-0, the Dolphins sealed the victory as Parker Mann drilled the fourth and final goal of the night into the back of the net. Matt Vander Werff picked up the shutout in goal with an exceptional performance in the net. Up next, Cape Henry (1-0) will host Hardgrave Military Academy on Friday, August 23.
