Girls Lacrosse- CHC 10, Bishop Sullivan 12

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team traveled to Bishop Sullivan for the TCIS semifinal matchup with the Crusaders, and with minutes remaining on the clock, the Dolphins and Crusaders remained neck-and-neck. Claire Bingham scored the first of the night to give Cape Henry a 1-0 lead just before the Crusaders connected for the equalizer. Moments later, Madisen Patrick scored the first of her four goals to propel the Dolphins back into the lead, 2-1. The Crusaders took the lead as the first half was coming to a close, but Gini Kainer and Madisen Patrick each found the back of the net to bring the tally to 4-4. With 10 seconds remaining in the first half, it was Madisen Patrick once again scoring to give the Dolphins the 5-4 halftime lead. Now carrying the momentum into the second half, Cape Henry’s Charlotte Purkey found the back of the net to give the Dolphins a 6-5 lead. Libby Kennedy and Kenzie Dillon followed suit to extend the Dolphin lead to three goals, 8-5 with 17 minutes remaining in the contest. The Crusaders score five unanswered goals across the next 13 minutes to take the 10-8 lead. With three minutes left in the night, Madisen Patrick connected for her final goal of the night to reduce the Crusader lead to one, 10-9.  Mary Grace Fowler connected for her first goal of the night at the right time, tying the game 10-10 with two minutes left. In the final two minutes, the Crusader connected for two goals and finished the night with a 12-10 win over the Dolphins. Cape Henry (10-5) will await the State Tournament ranking to be finalized for the Division II State Tournament next week.
