Baseball- CHC 3, Greenbrier Christian 6

The Dolphins hosted Greenbrier Christian Academy for a decisive TCIS matchup with the Gators on Monday afternoon, and after a late rally from the Dolphins, Cape Henry fell just short in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Gators struck for three runs in the top of the first inning and raced out to an early 5-0 lead by the top of the third inning. Cape Henry held the Gators scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings but had yet to push a run across the plate. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Cape Henry scored the first run of the day as Aiden Kuhle’s RBI singles scored Kenny Schaedel. Greenbrier added on more in the top of the seventh to bring the score to 6-1 with only one at-bat left for the Dolphins. Cape Henry struck for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was not enough to overcome Greenbrier’s early five-run lead. Trent Jones, Nate Hayes, Justin Philbrick, and Rush Friedberg all pitched on Monday afternoon, combining for four strikeouts and three walks. At the plate, Bryce Jones led the way with a 2-3 day. Kenny Schaedel, Aiden Kuhle, Trent Jones, and Josh Holland rounded out the offense with one hit apiece. Cape Henry (13-4) will take on Norfolk Christian tonight at 4:30 on the road.
