Baseball- CHC 3, Salem 2

The Dolphins took on the 9th ranked program in South Hampton Roads, Salem High School, on Thursday afternoon, and with yet another gem on the mound from Aiden Kuhle, the Dolphins won, 3-2. On the mound, Aiden continued his remarkable season, throwing his fourth complete game in four starts. On Thursday, Kuhle threw 74 pitches across all seven innings, striking out nine with 0 walks. The stellar outing brought Kuhle’s strikeout: walk ratio to 48:2 on the year. At the plate, Salem struck first with a solo home run in the top of the second inning, but the Dolphin answered in the bottom of the frame as Trent Jones kick-started the offense with a leadoff single. Dane Hoggard followed suit, knocking a single to right field and moving Jones to third base. Trent, with heads up base running, reached home after the Salem pitcher attempted to pick off Hoggard at first base. Salem crossed the plate once more in the top of the 5th inning as the player reached base on an error from the Dolphin defense. However, the Dolphins took the final lead of the night in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kenny Schaedel drilled a triple to the right-center gap to start the offensive threat in the inning, and Aiden Kuhle stepped up to the plate with a chance to help his cause on the mound as he knocked in the run with an RBI single to right. Trent Jones selflessly sacrificed Aiden to second base and set the table for Josh Holland to finish the deed. Holland proceeded to single to left field, allowing Kuhle to cross the plate for the eventual winning run. The Dolphins’ win over Salem High School brought Cape Henry’s record to 11-3 on the year with a TCIS matchup with Norfolk Academy scheduled for this afternoon at 4:30 pm.
