Track and Field- Boys 4th, Girls 2nd

The Dolphins traveled to Norfolk Academy on Thursday afternoon for the third Norfolk Academy Invitational of the year. The Dolphins were in full force as the girls finished the night in 2nd place with the boys finishing 4th of 10 teams.  Leading the charge for the girls’ side, Claire Bingham produced yet another exceptional day both in the sprint events and jumping events as she racked up two 1st place, two 2nd place, and one 4th place finish on the day. On the track, Bingham kicked off the competition with a 2nd place finish in the 100m, crossing the finish line in a blistering 13.29s. Following her performance in the 100m, Claire earned her first of two 1st place finishes in the 200m as she came in with a time of 27.64s. Rounding out her 1st place performances, Bingham also torched competition in the 400m with a time of 1:02.60. In the jumping events, Claire continued her onslaught with a 2nd place finish in the long jump and a 4th place finish in the triple jump, leaping 15-04.5 and 30-08.00 respectively. Gabriella Gianascoli pitched into the scoring efforts in the 400m, capturing 4th place. As she has done all year, Lexia Hann dominated the distance events, finishing 1st in the 1600m with a sub-six minute run of 5:55.95. Rounding out the top finishes for the girls, Caroline Beaulieu won the bronze in the discus, tossing a respectable 72-00.

On the boys’ side, Danny Banister led the way with a 4th place finish in the 100m, earning a time of 11.62s. In the Ling Jump, Danny shined as he completed the gold medal finish with a leap of 20-06. Owen Richards competed in only one event on Thursday, taking a break from the 1600m and 3200m. However, Owen did take part in the 800m and finished in 4th. Rounding out the scoring efforts for the boys, the 4×100 relay team finished with a time of 47.53 for a 3rd place ranking, while the 4×400 relay team finished 4th with a time of 3:48.39. The Dolphins are back in action Tuesday, May 7 for Senior Day at Norfolk Academy’s fourth Invitational meet.
