The Dolphins hosted the Cavaliers from Princess Anne High School on Tuesday afternoon, and after errors plagued the home defense, Cape Henry fell in a tough outing, 9-1. Kyle Edwards was called on to start the afternoon on the mound and pitched exceptionally well, throwing 4.1 innings, striking out four, and limiting the Cavaliers to one earned run. Errors behind Edwards put the Dolphins in a hole as the defense allowed five unearned runs. Nate Hayes entered in relief, throwing one inning allowing one run on one hit, with the defense allowing one unearned run. Closing out the contest on the mound, Trent Jones threw 1.1 innings and allowed one run on two hits. In total, the Dolphins allowed six unearned runs behind seven errors on Tuesday afternoon. At the plate, the lone Dolphin run came in the bottom of the second inning as Kenny Schaedel’s RBI single knocked in the runner from second base. Rounding out the offense, Kyle Edwards collected two hits in four at-bats against the Beach District’s Princess Anne High School. The Dolphins (9-3) have a shot at redemption tonight as Cape Henry host East-Syracuse this afternoon beginning at 4:30 pm.
