The Dolphins traveled to Hampton Roads Academy on Thursday afternoon for a conference matchup with the Navigators from Hampton Roads Academy, and after all nine matches, the Dolphins came out on top, 8-1. The Dolphins entered singles play 3-0 after sweeping the Navigators in doubles play. The pair of Grahame Brown and Flynn Somers earned an 8-4 win on the number one doubles court, as Nick Hubbard and Byron Richards captured the 8-6 win on the number two court. Carter Oppleman and Connor Smith rounded out doubles play with an 8-6 win over the number three court counterparts. The Navigators picked up one win in singles play, as Grahame Brown battled but came up just short on the number one court. Flynn Somers picked up where the Dolphins left off in doubles play, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win on the number two singles court. On the number three court, Nick Hubbard captured a 6-1, 6-3 result to seal the TCIS victory for Cape Henry. Byron Richards added extra insurance on court four, winning 6-1, 6-0 as Aiden Winfield brought the day’s wins to seven with a 6-3, 6-1 result. Rounding out the matches, Jared Gordon finished off the eighth Dolphin win with a 6-2, 6-2 win on the number six singles court. The Dolphins (4-2) are back in action tonight for a 4:00 pm home match with Steward School.
