Baseball- CHC 5, Isle of Wight 9

The Dolphins fell for the second time this season as rare errors haunted the Dolphin defense in a matchup with Isle of Wight on Wednesday afternoon. Isle of Wight struck early and often, scoring all nine runs in the first four innings on ten hits. The Dolphins regrouped defensively and on the mound, as Cape Henry held Isle of Wight scoreless in the final three innings. The Dolphins mustered five runs in the final two frames, but it was not enough to overcome an early deficit. On the mound, Cape Henry threw seven different pitchers, with Nathan Hayes, Trent Jones, Kyle Edwards, and Aiden Kuhle highlighting the outing. Hayes threw 1.2 innings, striking out one and limiting the Isle of Wight offense to one run. Trent Jones followed Hayes with 1.2 innings pitched, giving up no hits and no runs. Kyle Edwards and Aiden Kuhle closed out the night as each threw one inning, striking out two apiece, and giving up no runs. At the plate, Bryce Jones led the game with a 3-4 performance, scoring one run in the process. Kyle Edwards contributed a 2-3 performance at the plate and scored two runs for the Dolphins. Rounding out the offense, Aiden Kuhle, Trent Jones, Josh Holland, Jack Wickum, and Kenny Schaedel each picked up one hit. The Dolphins (8-2) are back in action Friday at home as Cape Henry takes on conference opponent Steward School at 4:30 pm.
