The Dolphins hosted Southern High from Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon, with four pitchers combining for the third-straight scoreless outing. Alex Gianascoli earned the win in relief, throwing three innings and collecting one strikeout. Kenny Schaedel started the game on the bump, throwing one inning and striking out two. Nathan Hayes and Aiden Kuhle closed out the night, as Nathan Hayes threw two innings with three strikeouts. Aiden Kuhle threw the seventh inning and struck out one, as the Dolphins combined to capture the no-hit, shutout. At the plate, the Dolphins struck first in the bottom of the first inning as Josh Holland’s RBI single pushed Kyle Edwards across the plate after a previous one-out single from Edwards. In the ensuing at-bat, Alex Gianascoli knocked in Aiden Kuhle and Dane Hoggard with a two-RBI single. Gianascoli and Kuhle each drew walks in the bottom of the first to reach base. The Dolphins took an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, adding one in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the sixth inning. Josh Holland led the charge on Wednesday, going 2-2 with one RBI at the plate. Trent Jones also collected two hits, going 2-3 and scoring two runs on the day. Alex Gianascoli, Kenny Schaedel, and Kyle Edwards each added one hit to the box score, as Alex Gianascoli (2) and Kenny Schaedel each added RBIs. The Dolphins (8-1) are currently ranked fourth in the DI State rankings and will meet South Hampton Road’s sixth-ranked Gators from Greenbrier Christian on Friday with first pitch slated for 4:30 pm.
