Girls Lacrosse- CHC 8, Bishop Sullivan 13

The Dolphins hosted the Crusaders from Bishop Sullivan on Monday afternoon and dropped the first conference matchup of the season by a score of 13-8. The Dolphins were off to a hot start, scoring four goals in the first ten minutes of play. Libby Kennedy kick-started the offense with the Dolphins’ first goal in the sixth minute of the afternoon. Madisen Patrick and Mary Grace Fowler scored within a minute of each other, bringing the Dolphins’ total to three first-half goals. Rounding out the scoring run for Cape Henry, Claire Bingham found the back of the net ten minutes into the match. As the first half came to a close, Madisen Patrick scored her second of the game and gave Cape Henry the fifth score of the half. Despite the early run from the Dolphins, Bishop Sullivan stuck around to capture the, 6-5, halftime lead. Cape Henry scored three more in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a talented Bishop Sullivan Girls Lacrosse. With the full 50 minutes wrapped up, the Crusaders defeated the Dolphins, 13-8 and handed Cape Henry the first conference loss of the season. Madisen Patrick led the scoring efforts with three goals and added one assist along the way. Claire Bingham and Mary Grace Fowler each added two goals, with Libby Kennedy rounding out the scoring column with one goal and one assist. Gini Kainer added one assist and led the team in ground balls, scooping five on the day. Tori Winans and Eva Dickie split time in the cage Monday, combining for three saves on the day. The Dolphins (5-2) have a quick turnaround and will look to bounce back tonight against Christchurch at 4:30 pm.
