3/29/19 Track and Field- Boys 2nd, Girls 3rd

Track and Field- Boys 2nd, Girls 3rd

The Track and Field teams faced off against local competition in Thursday’s meet at Greenbrier Christian.  The boys’ team placed 2nd in the 12-team field, while the girls took 3rd in the 11-team field.  The boys were on the board early and often, as the 4x800m relay team of Carter Ward, Landon Clay, Josh Old, and Owen Richards kicked off the meet with a win. Richards returned to win the mile, while teammates Berk Alptekin and Zach Earl took 3rd and 4th, respectively.  In the 3200, Connor Amet– making his two-mile debut– took 3rd.  In the jumps, it was the Danny Banister show, as Banister grabbed the win in the Long Jump with a leap of 19-7.25. Danny’s jump just missed the school record with more opportunities to capture the record to follow. After the Long Jump, Banister took home 2nd in the triple jump, with John Ermini rounding out the jumping events with a 4th place finish in the triple jump.  Banister completed his exceptional day by leading the way in the sprints, grabbing 2nd in the 100m dash.

On the girls’ side, Caroline Beaulieu, Claire Bingham, and Lexia Hann led the charge.  Beaulieu produced an important PR in the discus (65-03), grabbing 2nd place in the process.  However, she was not finished and returned to earn 3rd in the shot put.  Claire Bingham grabbed 2nd in the long jump and triple jump by fractions of an inch, proving that she will be one of the top jumpers in the TCIS this season.  Lexia Hann, who typically runs the distance events, tried her hand in the sprints, taking 2nd in the 400 and 6th in the 200.  The team returns to action at Greenbrier on 4/11.
