Baseball- CHC 8, Annapolis Area Christian 0

The Dolphins hosted Annapolis Area Christian on Friday afternoon and needed six innings of baseball to push a run across the plate, scoring all eight runs in the bottom of the sixth. Cape Henry tossed five different arms in the game, with Josh Holland earning the win after Kenny Schaedel, Trent Jones, Kyle Edwards, Nate Hayes, and Josh Holland combined for a seven-inning shut out. Kyle Edwards kicked off the sixth-inning rally by connecting for a single to right field just before Dane Hoggard drew a walk to put runners on first and second. A wild pitch advances Kyle and Dane to second and third with Aiden Kuhle at the plate. On the ensuing pitch, Aiden’s shot to left center scored Edwards to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead. Trent Jones followed Kuhle’s base knock with a single past the third baseman to score Hoggard and take a 2-0 lead. Bryce Jones kept the momentum rolling with two outs, lining a ball to left center for a two-RBI at bat. Kyle Edwards found his way back to the plate and extended the Dolphins’ lead after reaching base on an error, scoring Jack Wickum and Bryce Jones. Holding onto a 7-0 lead, Dane Hoggard capped off the scoring efforts with an RBI triple to bring the score to 8-0 in favor of Cape Henry. Trent Jones led the Dolphin offense with a 2-3 performance at the plate, with Bryce Jones, Kyle Edwards, Dane Hoggard, Aiden Kuhle, and Josh Holland rounding out the hit column. Cape Henry advances to 3-1 with the win before traveling to Richmond for two games against St. Christopher’s and Steward School on Saturday.
