Girls Lacrosse- CHC 18, Nansemond Suffolk 4

The Dolphins opened regular season play at home against the Saints from Nansemond Suffolk Academy on Friday night and brought the record to 1-0 after an 18-4 offensive explosion from senior Libby Kennedy. Madisen Patrick kicked off the scoring efforts on Friday with the season’s first goal minutes into the opening half. Mary Grace Fowler, Sadie Cohen, and Libby Kennedy each followed, finding the back of the cage with 18 minutes left to play in the first half. The Dolphins continued to pour in the offense and raced out to an 8-2 first-half lead as the teams broke for halftime. Aleezah Adams led the charge for Cape Henry’s defense in the second half, limiting the Saints to two second-half goals and earning game MVP honors in her first lacrosse game for the Dolphins. Cape Henry continued to put pressure on the Saints’ defense, and as the night came to a close, the Dolphins held onto the 18-4 lead. Libby Kennedy led the offense with a six-goal night, as Claire Bingham pitched in for four goals. Mary Grace Fowler and Madisen Patrick each finished the night with three scores, with Gini Kainer and Sadie Cohen each connecting for one. The Dolphins (1-0) will host Maury High School on Tuesday night beginning at 6:30 pm.
