CHC Alumni Feature – Tyler Chianelli

Tyler Chianelli was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia by his parents Robert and Debra. He came to Cape Henry in the seventh grade and loved how inclusivity was ever present at CHC. He admired how close-knit the community was and how everyone would come together to support one another.

Tyler appreciated the impactful experiences offered at CHC as a part of preparing them for the world ahead. Tyler recalled a field trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. as one of many experiences that made Cape Henry’s education so impactful and meaningful. This field trip came full circle when Tyler went on a three-week journey throughout Israel last May. Tyler was also impacted by Mr. Fluharty’s Economics class. He really enjoyed Mr. Fluharty’s Economics class because, as he states, “it was exposure to things in the real world and it allowed me a lot of room for self-discovery”. Tyler became enthralled with the stock market and decided to make his first investment when he was in the 10th grade. He also took part in what was called “The Stock Market Game” at Cape Henry; a game that enabled students to place simulated “trades” in the stock market and compete statewide against other schools. He was awarded fifth place in the state of Virginia during his senior year.

Tyler went on from Cape Henry to Old Dominion University and continued pursuing his financial passion. He continued to develop his expertise in the financial markets and in 2012, Tyler founded an online financial education business in which he taught executives and business owners from over 50 countries how to actively manage their own portfolios and investments in the stock market as self-directed traders. “I was really motivated by the thought that I was directly helping someone to bring significant change in their financial lives,” Tyler said.

As a progression from his financial education business in 2018, Tyler founded WealthVisors Investment Group, a Registered Investment Advisory firm, to provide his expertise and unique talent to clients in Virginia Beach and throughout the U.S. With a vision for the future and in conjunction with his advisory business, Tyler is also currently developing a real-time trade tracking application that will utilize new technologies to track, analyze, and suggest relevant trade opportunities.

Tyler believes in giving back to the community that shaped him. He is a guest lecturer at a master’s level class at Old Dominion University in their Gregory A. Lumsden Trading Room, alongside Professor Andrew Cohen, teaching students his masterful ways of trading equities and derivatives strategies. He believes his years at Cape Henry helped sculpt him as an entrepreneur and as a man wanting to make a difference influenced by CHC and the remarkable businessmen in the Cape Henry community.

Tyler was married in Florence, Italy in 2015 to his wife, Virginia, and currently resides in Virginia Beach.
