TCIS Tournament – CHC Girls Basketball 48, Norfolk Collegiate 50

Varsity Girls Basketball finished the season in the quarterfinal matchup against the Oaks from Norfolk Collegiate on Tuesday night after the Dolphins’ lead was erased with under a minute left to play. The Dolphins held onto a narrow lead after the first quarter of play, outscoring the Oaks 7-6 in the first eight minutes. Norfolk Collegiate stuck around throughout the second quarter, but the Dolphins extended the lead once more and entered halftime with a 21-19 lead over the Oaks. Norfolk Collegiate’s second-half game plan made the difference in the contest, limiting the Dolphins to nine third-quarter points as the Oaks poured in 17 across the eight-minute frame. Entering the final quarter with the season on the line, Cape Henry regained the lead with five minutes left in regulation. Both sides battled back and forth, keeping the differential within two points for Cape Henry. With 1:30 left in play, the Oaks erased the lead and forced the Dolphins to attack the basket. After three lead changes, late turnovers began to plague the Dolphins with under a minute left in the quarterfinal matchup. With one final turnover to seal the Dolphins’ fate, the season came to an end with the Dolphins falling 48-50. Madisen Patrick scored 18 for the Dolphins in her final Varsity Girls Basketball game for the Dolphins. Nadia Norman pitched in for 14 points, as Paris Beale (6), Izzy Schleifer (4), Olivia Zettervall (4), and Aleezah Adams (2) rounded out the Dolphin offense. The Dolphins are incredibly grateful for the efforts Madisen Patrick, Emily Ryan, and Amberly Butler has given to the Varsity Girls Basketball program throughout the years and wish the trio the best of luck in the upcoming spring season.
