Varsity Wrestling – Ram Rumble

The Dolphins traveled to Lafayette High School to compete in the Ram Rumble, and at the conclusion of the tournament, the Dolphins found themselves in 15th out of more than 50 teams. The Dolphins boasted a respectable four top-10 finishers, with Colin Sharp and Colby Kassir leading the charge. Colin kicked off his 5th place run with a quick pin, taking his opponent to the ground in 29 seconds before winning the next two matches by decision and forfeit, respectively. Colin faced stiff competition in the semifinals and picked up his first loss of the tournament. After falling again in the consolation semifinals, Colin found his way back in the 5th place match, pinning his opponent in 51 seconds. Colby Kassir also kicked off the tournament with a first-round pin, taking his counterpart to the ground in an impressive 30 seconds. Colby followed his first round pin with two more pins in 5:02 and 5:12, respectively. Colby dropped the next two contests and found himself in the 5th place match where Colby earned a 7-2 decision over his Western Branch opponent. Jackson Kassir came home with a 6th place finish after compiling a 5-3 record, earning four pins on the night. Aedan Somers rounded out the top-10 finishes with a 3-3 record over the weekend with two pins and a 12-0 major decision under his belt. Parker Tanner-Vigil impressed the tournament, earning the fastest fall award as he pinned his opponent in eight seconds. The Dolphins will host the Crusaders from Bishop Sullivan on Wednesday night for the Dolphins’ senior day festivities beginning at 5:30 pm.
