Indoor Track and Field- Boys 6th, Girls 6th

The Indoor Track and Field team traveled to the Boo Williams Sportsplex on Tuesday night to compete in Norfolk Academy Invitational and the team’s first competition of the New Year.  Competing against 15 schools from Virginia, both the boys’ and the girls’ sides provided strong outing and each grabbed 6th place.

Owen Richards led the boy’s side and took the gold in the mile, winning with a time of 4:36. Grant Shepherd and Briggs Standing followed Owen’s lead and helped the Dolphin capture three points with their respective mile finishes. Owen followed up his performance in the mile with an impressive finish in the 1000m run, clocking in at 2:42.  John Ermini, in his first ever triple jump event, took 3rd and earned 6 points for the Dolphins.  On the girls’ side, seniors Claire Bingham and Lexia Hann shined for the Dolphins.  Claire grabbed 2nd in the triple jump, setting a PR of 31′ 6.5″. Bingham also grabbed 5 points for the Dolphins in the 500m dash, while Hannah Gunn crossed the finish line five seconds behind Claire to earn 7th place and two points. Lexia Hann was the distance star on the girls side, earning 5th place in the mile.  The Dolphins are back in action Friday, January 11 for the Southeastern Invitational at Boo Williams.
