Boys Basketball- CHC 48, Green Run 61

The Dolphins battled Green Run with the largest and most spirited crowd of the season in attendance for a matchup between Hampton Roads’ third and seventh-ranked teams. The Dolphins’ defense limited the Stallions to two points until two early fouls on Dajour Rucker changed the dynamic of the first quarter. With the Dolphins leading scorer on the bench due to foul troubles, Cape Henry scored a season-low 10 points in the first quarter. Green Run carried the momentum of a 1000-point scorer into the second quarter, as Cape Henry fell behind 17-32 at the break. Returning to the court for the second half, Cape Henry outscored the Stallions 19-16 to bring the score to 36- 48. The Dolphins, trailing by 12 points, ultimately fell 48-61 after the Dolphins were forced to foul to stop the clock late in regulation. Christian Moore led the Dolphins’ offense with 17 points while Dajour added 16 after sitting for six minutes in the first quarter. Rounding out the scoring efforts, Danny Banister (5), George Cutler (3), Greg Melvin (3), CJ Bailey (2), and Kellen Marshall (2) each found the bottom of the net on Friday night. Despite the loss, the Dolphins treated an exuberant crowd to an exciting brand of Basketball. Cape Henry (7-2) is back in action Tuesday night for a conference matchup with the Oaks from Norfolk Collegiate beginning at 7:00 pm.
