Girls Basketball- CHC 31, St. Luke’s 44

The Dolphins hosted the Australian Club Basketball out of St. Luke’s Grammar School in Sydney, Australia on Saturday night, with the Dolphins hanging around for much of the night before running out of steam in the final quarter. The Dolphins trailed by three points after the first eight minutes of play, with St. Luke’s jumping out to a 10-7 lead. The Dolphins’ high-pressure defense forced several turnovers throughout the first half, but as the half came to a close St. Luke’s extended the lead to eight with the Dolphins trailing 11-19. With both teams returning to the court for the second half, Cape Henry cut into the lead by outscoring St. Luke’s 11-10 in the third quarter and were set up for a fourth-quarter comeback. However, the Dolphins were short-handed with three bench players and ran out of gas down the stretch and fell to St. Luke’s 31-44 as the final buzzer sounded. Nadia Norman led the Dolphin offense with 13 points, with Madisen pitching in for eight points. Amberly Butler (4), Paris Beale (3), and Olivia Zettervall (3) rounded out the scoring efforts for Cape Henry. The Dolphins (2-4) will take on Green Run for the Dolphins’ Homecoming on January 4 with tip-off set for 4:00 pm.
