Varsity Swim- Boys 2nd, Girls 2nd

The Dolphins took to the pool at Norfolk Academy for the first competition of the 2018 – 2019 swim season, with both the Boys and Girls teams finishing second in the four-team field. On the Boys side, Cape Henry lost the matchup with the Bulldogs but outscored Oaktree 85-44 and Steward School 90-16. On the Girls side, similar results with a loss to Norfolk Academy, 94-22 win over Oaktree, and a 90-16 win over Steward School. Eight members of the Dolphins’ swim team qualified for States in the first competition of the season. Highlighting the meet, Kim Schooneman and Sam Stanton each finished 1st in the 100 backstroke and 3rd in the 100 free. The Girls 200 Free Relay composed of Addison Cox, Shannon Tadder, Kim Schooneman, and Gabrielle Short place 2nd, while the Girls 200 Medley Relay of Kate Vittone, Shannon Tadder, Gabrielle Short, and Kim Schooneman placed 3rd. Shannon Tadder finished 3rd in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 200 Individual Medley, while Addison Cox finished 3rd in the 50 free. Cox also finished the 100 fly in 5th place, and rounding out the highlights, Robert Campbell finished the 50 free in 5th place. The Dolphins are off until January 11 when Cape Henry takes on Walsingham Academy beginning at 6:00 pm.
