Boys Basketball- CHC 58, Blue Ridge 77

The Dolphins hosted Blue Ridge High School on Tuesday night, falling 58-77 after an exceptional 3-point shooting showcase from the Barons. The Dolphins trailed early in the first half, giving up five 3-pointers and scoring only 11 points in the first eight minutes. Cape Henry gained some ground in the second quarter after trailing 11-23 in the first, closing the gap to narrow the Barons’ lead to three points after Christian Moore poured in 10 second-quarter points. However, returning to the floor for the second half, the Dolphins struggled to find any consistency on both ends of the court. With the third quarter coming to a close, the Dolphins trailed by 11, 44-55. As the Dolphins were forced to foul to stop the clock with regulation nearing an end, Blue Ridge knocked down 10 of 11 free-throws and handed the Dolphins their first loss of the season, 58-77.  Dajour Rucker led the offense with 22 points while Christian Moore added 13, with 10 of 13 coming in the second quarter. Danny Banister netted seven with Bryson Spell (6), Greg Melvin (4), Kellen Marshall (4), and George Cutler (2) rounding out the Dolphins offense. The Dolphins (3-1) are back in action Saturday to host the Australian Club Team beginning at 5:00 pm.
