Girls Basketball- CHC 43, Tallwood High School 46

The Dolphins hosted the Lions from Tallwood High School on Thursday night, and despite a sluggish start for Cape Henry, the defense limited the Lions to three points in the final quarter to bring the score within one possession with seconds left. The Dolphins were outscored 11-35 in the first half after connecting for only five points in the opening quarter. Throughout the second half, Cape Henry’s high pressure, in-your-face style of defense made all the difference. This high-intensity defense led to several fast-break points on Lions’ turnovers, and at the end of the third quarter, the Dolphins outscored Tallwood 12-8 to bring the score within 20 points. The fourth quarter was all Dolphins as the sense of urgency picked up, outscoring Tallwood 20-3 in the final eight minutes. However, as the fourth quarter came to a close, the Dolphins fell 43-46. The girls showed a great deal of heart and refused to fold after trailing by nearly 30 points in Thursday’s match-up. Nadia Norman led the way with 17 points, while Madisen Patrick added 14. Paris Beale controlled the boards once again, grabbing 10 rebounds and adding seven points. Olivia Zettervall (3) and Emily Ryan (2) rounded out the offense for Cape Henry on Thursday night. The Dolphins (2-2) will travel to Kellam on Tuesday for a matchup with the Knights beginning at 5:15 pm.
