Girls Basketball- CHC 51, Walsingham 23

The Dolphins were red hot in the home opener on Thursday night, defeating Walsingham 51-23 after holding the Trojans to eight points in the first half. The Dolphins’ defensive presence set the tone early, forcing multiple turnovers and netting the first 12 points in transition. Cape Henry was off to a commanding 16-1 lead as the first quarter came to a close, and the Dolphins showed no signs of slowing down adding 15 second-quarter points while limiting the Trojans to seven. Returning to the floor for the second half, Cape Henry held onto a 31-8 lead, and the girls’ phenomenal defensive outing continued to cause the Trojans to force up difficult shots. As the final buzzer sounded, Cape Henry earned the first win of the season with a 51-point outing. Nadia Norman led all scorers with 20 points, while Madisen Patrick pitched in for eight points and five assists. Olivia Zettervall netted seven points, with Paris Beale and Emily Ryan each earning four. Emily Ryan also contributed a game-high five rebounds for the Dolphins. Rounding out the scoring efforts, Mackenzie White (2), Aleezah Adams (2), and Amberly Butler (2) each found the bottom of the net in Thursday’s win. The Dolphins (1-1) will take on Hampton Roads Academy on Wednesday, December 5 will tip-off set for 5:00 pm in Hampton.
