Girls Basketball- CHC 39, First Colonial 46

The Dolphins’ kicked off the season against First Colonial High School on Tuesday night, and despite a strong first half showing, the Dolphins fell to the Patriots after a slow start in the second half. To begin the game, Cape Henry was firing on all cylinders after only a handful of practices. The girls were driving the lane with ease and finishing around the rim while also controlling the glass. The Patriots hung around throughout the first half, and as the halftime buzzer sounded, the Dolphins were tied 23-23. Returning to the court after the half, the Dolphins slowed down significantly. The shots that fell in the first half were not finding the bottom of the net, and the slow third quarter put the Dolphins in a hole. Foul troubles ensued throughout the fourth quarter, and the Dolphins fell by a score of 46 – 39. The girls provided a great deal to look forward to with an athletic lineup across the board. Madisen Patrick led the scoring charge with 15 points, while Paris Beale contributed 10 rebounds on the night. Cape Henry (0-1) will take on Walsingham Academy on Thursday night, with tip-off set for 5:00 pm.
