Girls Cross Country Places 5th in State Tournament Final

Covered in mud from the grueling course, the Dolphins earned the highest finish for the Varsity Girls Cross Country in the State Tournament. Stacked up against 214 runners from 24 different schools, Cape Henry brought home a 5th place finish. Leading the charge for Cape Henry, All-Conference recipient, Avan Johnson, crossed the finish line in 23:17 en route to a 27th place finish. In 46th place, Carlie Meyerholz crossed the finish line in 24:14. Separated by 15 seconds, Izzy Schleifer and Madisen Patrick were the third and fourth dolphins to cross the finish line in 24:41 and 24:56 respectively. Rounding out the historic finish for Cape Henry, Liz Bowles finished the race in a time of 25:20. The Dolphins’ times were good enough for a 5th place out of 24 teams on Friday night. The State race capped off an outstanding season for the Varsity Girls Cross Country season.
