Varsity Field Hockey Advances to State Semi-Finals

Alexandra Land (’19) is All-Time points leader for CHC Field Hockey program

The Dolphins advanced to the State Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon behind a memorable day for the Field Hockey program. With one goal and two assists, Alexandra Land became the All-Time points leader for Cape Henry Field Hockey, surpassing Dolphin great, Erin Scherrer, with 194 points. Midway through the first half, the Dolphins struck first as Ali Gordon found Livy Wallace to take a 1-0 lead in the State quarterfinal. Ali Gordon picked up her second assist minutes later, finding Kenzie Dillon for the second score of the night. With nine minutes remaining in the first half, Alexandra Land extended the lead to 3-0 as she scored unassisted in transition to close out the scoring in the first half. Returning to the field after the half, the Dolphins needed only two minutes to extend the lead to 5-0.  Alexandra Land found Caroline Fluharty for the Dolphin’s fourth score of the night to open play in the second half. The Dolphin defense stopped the ensuing attempt, and in the blink of an eye, Alexandra Land found Caroline Fluharty for the fifth and final score of the night with 28 minutes remaining in the second half. The Dolphins held Chatham scoreless throughout the night as Cape Henry advances to the State semifinal on Friday at Evergreen Sportsplex.
