Boys Volleyball Loses in 5th Set of TCIS Finals

Boys Volleyball- CHC 2, Norfolk Christian 3

The Dolphins traveled to Peninsula Catholic for the finals of the TCIS tournament, taking on the top-seeded Ambassadors from Norfolk Christian. It appeared to be the Dolphins’ day in the first set as Cape Henry played an error-free brand of volleyball en route to a 25-21 first-set win. The tides turned in the second set as Norfolk Christian evened the night’s tally with a 21-25 victory over the Dolphins. With the match tied, 1-1, the third set brought an exciting display of volleyball, with both sides battling and refusing to fall behind. The Dolphins pulled out the third-set win and took the lead, 2-1. The Dolphins appeared to run out of gas in the fourth set after a back-and-forth with the talented Ambassadors sideline in the previous three sets. The fourth set was all Christian as the Ambassadors routed the Dolphins, 12-25, to even the match at 2-2. With the final set of the season underway for the Dolphins, passing errors plagued the Dolphins in the conference championship, falling in the set by a score of 7-15. The Dolphins finished an outstanding season as the TCIS runner-up, falling 3-2 to the Ambassadors. With a few highlights mixed in, Danny Banister led the Dolphins with 15 kills while Nick Hubbard and Robert Campbell each pitched in for six kills.
