TCIS 2nd Round Victory vs. NA

Soccer- CHC 3, Norfolk Academy 0

The Dolphins hosted the second round of the TCIS Tournament, meeting the Bulldogs from Norfolk Academy on the pitch for a chance to advance to the TCIS Finals. Cape Henry was the clear front-runner from kickoff to the final whistle. The Dolphins controlled possession and limited the Bulldog opportunities to get in behind the Dolphin backline flawlessly throughout the first half. And as Cape Henry searched for the gaps in the Bulldog back line, Wlad Gassant put the Dolphins in the lead with the Dolphin’s opening goal in the 36th minute. The lone first-half goal gave Cape Henry confidence and forced Academy to take risks in the second half. In the 47th minute, Connor Garrison made an 80-yard run into the box where he was dragged down, resulting in a PK for Cape Henry. George Selamaj stepped up to the 12 and buried the ball into the back of the net, giving Cape Henry a 2-0 lead. As Academy fought to find a way back into the match, Grant Shepherd finished the third and final score of the night with Wlad Gassant assisting on the play. Cape Henry (16-2) sets their sights on a second straight TCIS Championship on Friday night.
