CHC Field Hockey Wins on Senior Night

Celebrating the contributions of seniors, Claire Bingham, Amberly Butler, Lexia Hann, Alexandra Land, and manager Eva Dickie on Tuesday night, the Dolphins routed the Crusaders by a score of 9-0. Ali Gordon kick-started the offensive onslaught for the Dolphins, scoring the night’s opening goal minutes into the first half. Shortly after, Olivia Zettervall earned her first assist as Claire Bingham found the back of the cage to bring the score to 2-0. Halfway into the first half, Alexandra Land rocketed the ball home, giving the Dolphins a 3-0 lead and inching Land one point closer to tying her sister for second on the All-Time points list.  Ali Gordon was back in the action minutes later, adding her second score of the night and extending the lead to four before Caroline Fluharty netted her first goal of the night. Alexandra Land picked up the assist on the play, tying her sister on the All-Time scoring list with 181 points. With second-half play beginning, Caroline Fluharty found the back of the cage for her second score of the night and Cape Henry’s sixth. Extending the lead to 7-0, Olivia Zettervall scored her first with Ali Gordon assisting on the play. Completing the hat trick, Ali Gordon scored her third of the night with 14 minutes remaining. Rounding out the scoring, Cameron Dodzik found a piece of the action for Cape Henry’s ninth and final goal of the night. The Dolphins (11-2) will travel to Norfolk Academy on Thursday to determine the TCIS Tournament’s #1 seed beginning at 4:00 pm.
